The track is 1.2 miles long, with 13 turns and two
bumps. We usually go in the clockwise direction. Click the image
for a large version.
The
animation below illustrates how passing is done on the track. We use
the
horseshoe on the left side of the track for regular laps, bypassing it
only to pass after being given
the go-ahead from the passing flag. For a demonstration, click the
green flag to start the
race, red flag to stop. Continue clicking the green flag to speed
up the cars.

General Rules
Zone 8
driving rules apply. Email our autocross chairs, Dave Radmacher and Greg Robertson (autocross@saz.pca.org), if you
have any questions. Here are some of the most relevant rules:
Clothing: Long-sleeved shirts, full-length pants, shoes and
socks are required. This clothing must be of natural fibers; no
synthetics allowed except approved fire resistant material. Gloves are
not required, but can really help you grip the steering wheel.
Helmets: Snell
2000, or 2005, SA or M rated helmets are required. Snell 95 helmets are no longer allowed.
We usually have "rental" helmets available, in case you don't own one yet.
Cars: All chassis and engines must be Porsche to accrue
points or compete for trophies.
Passengers are not allowed unless the driver or the
passenger is one of our instructors, and the non-instructor is
registered for the event.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid
state driver's license.
Drivers are responsible for the Zone 8 classification of
their Porsche. (This isn't that hard, especially if your car is stock.)
See
Zone 8 classes here.
Pinal Air Park Rules
No cameras are to be used outside of the track area.
No photos of aircraft are allowed from anywhere.
No weapons are allowed in the Air Park.
Obey all posted speed limits while on the Park roads.
Please obey these rules or we will lose our use of the site.
Remember we are guests of the Air
Park.
Pinal Air Park now requires us to submit a list of those
attending. If you are considering coming, please email or phone a
list of everyone in your party, including spouses, children, and
friends, to our safety chair,
who will make sure the names are on the list. The guard at the
gate checks for these names.
Directions to the Track
The track is located just west of I-10 between Tucson and Casa
Grande. [Map of overall
area]
From Tucson and points south, go west (north) on I-10 for about 3 miles
past Marana to the Pinal Air Park exit (Exit 232), and then go west to
the Air Park
entrance. From Phoenix or the intersection of I-8 and I-10, go east
(south)
on I-10 to Exit 232 and bear right onto Pinal Air Park Road. Continue
to
the Air Park entrance.
You will need to stop at the guarded gate. If the guard can't
tell from
looking at your car, tell him you are going to the track for the
Porsche
Club event. The guard should be able to give you directions, but if
not,
just wait for another Porsche and follow them! You'll know you're
almost
there when you see our bright orange cones. Beware of the speed dips as
you approach the track. Here is an aerial view:
